Shanghai Flavor Shop

Welcome to Shanghai Flavor Shop, a hidden gem nestled in Sunnyvale, California, at 888 Old San Francisco Rd. This beloved Chinese restaurant, operating since the '90s, specializes in authentic Shanghai cuisine that promises to transport your taste buds straight to the bustling streets of Shanghai.

The menu offers a delightful array of options, with highlights such as the Shanghai Style Rice Stick ($6.25), rich and flavorful Spicy Pork Noodle Soup ($5.95), and the delectable Pork Noodle Soup ($6.25).

  • Pan Fried Pork Buns – Often hailed as a must-try, these buns boast a perfectly crispy bottom and a tender top, filled with succulent pork and a burst of flavorful soup.
  • Shredded Pork & Noodle with Green Onion Sauce ($5.95) – A harmonious blend of noodles coated in aromatic onion sauce, this dish has captured the hearts of regulars.
  • Garlic Noodles – Another fan favorite, these noodles are a comforting dish that melds perfectly with the restaurant's friendly atmosphere.

Many customers, such as Jeanette Hada and A Gator, rave about the flavorful dishes and the genuine warmth of the staff. The restaurant may have a simple setting, but the exceptional culinary offerings more than compensate for any lack of ambiance. In fact, Arthur even called the pan-fried bun the best in the Bay Area, while Sean Nguyen relished the crispy texture and burst of soup in the pork buns, elevating their dining experience to a delightful adventure.

Furthermore, for those who enjoy cooking at home, they offer uncooked buns at an unbeatable price of $0.50 each—an enticing option for culinary enthusiasts.

The service at Shanghai Flavor Shop is as authentic as the food. Customers describe it as "authentically grouchy," a trait that adds to the restaurant’s charm and longstanding tradition. Here, you don't just receive food—you receive a heartfelt slice of Shanghai, right in your neighborhood.

Overall, Shanghai Flavor Shop is a testament to the beauty of authentic culinary experiences. Whether you're a food lover, a local seeking comfort, or just curious about Shanghai cuisine, this restaurant is sure to impress. My favorite Chinese restaurant. Small family owned. I come here at minimum once a week. Their food is uncommonly good (especially pork buns, onion noodles and wonton soup) and their staff are sincere. Well worth a 5.0, but seems like some reviewers were hard on their simple setting and their well-meant efforts to manage customer traffic in a small setting. Tip - They sell uncooked buns for a low price (I think 0.50 each) if you know how to cook them. PS - I would choose PF Chang's for ambiance but this place for exceptionally delicious food.

Great Shanghai style soup dumplings and garlic noodles. The waitress is awesome in her recommendations. It's been here since the '90s
